Wyoming mule deer

I'll have 2 points for the 2011 mule deer season in Wyoming. I would like to hunt them in sage country. Any suggestions where to go? Thanks for the replies. PaLuke

there's a lot of sage country in Wyoming

But focus on the central and south central Wyoming units

I second the south central

I second the south central area.  I have a couple of acquaintences that hunt Wyoming each year, and always get their goat.

I do not really have any

I do not really have any experience actually hunting mule deer in Wyoming. But I do chase speed goats up there. We hunt them in the south central part of the state and driving to our area I always see some fairly nice bucks. I have not however seen any real giants where we actually hunt pronghorn. But from my limited experience I don't think you could go wrong with that region of the state. Good luck and keep us posted on how where you end up deciding to hunt mule deer and on how your hunt ends up turning out.

wyoming mule deer hunt

i suggest the Evanston area in western wyoming, my guide on a mule deer hunt from utah commented on the trophy mule deer in this area being some of the best trophy mule deer hunting in the country.

Is that buck from Wyoming or is it from your Utah hunt? He does not look bad at all. If it was during your Utah hunt... why didn't you shoot him! Did you end up getting one? It kind of seems funny that your guide would be talking up somewhere else while guiding you in his area. That is unless he had already put you on some really good bucks.

mule deer hunt

The reason i didnt shoot that buck was because i had already shot the deer in my profile picture, i used my guides lone range 6.5 284 from gunswerks and shot him at 704 yards. it was the shot of a life time for me and now i just bought a savage 111 longrange hunter 6.5 284 for deer hunting. i plan on putting a Huskemaw 5-20 scope on it. hope it does as well as the custom gun from gunwerks.

I agree with jonesc43, from

I agree with jonesc43, from what I know about Wyoming hunting.  The tri corner area of south western Wyoming is probably the best sage hunting.

SW Wyoming Mule Deer

I live in Evanston and have hunted this area for over 35 years. The hunt unit south of I-80 (south of Evanston) does hold some really nice bucks and I have taken some good ones there over the years. The only problem is the access to land there. It has a lot of ranchland and is hard to get permission to hunt on. Add the fact that outside groups are starting to pay ranchers rediculous fees to lock their land up for hunting clubs and it doesn't leave a lot of places to hunt unless you really know the area. The hunt unit just north of I-80 and a few north of that one have a lot more public land as well as ranchland that is enrolled in the "hunter management program". All the info and instruction needed can be found on Wyoming Game and Fish web site. Just make sure you put in for the permission slips early and keep printed copies with you and in your truck at all times when hunting or you WILL be ticketed. I personally have hunted al over SW Wyoming and consistantly see more big bucks north of Evanston but that being said, the one I have on my wall came from south of town.
