There is absolutely no reason

There is absolutely no reason to blame the G&F for cutting tag numbers when the animal populations in many areas are down or the buck/doe/fawn ratios get out of wack due to the drought and possibly overhunting. People always seem to say that the G&F is money driven, but if that was the case they wouldn't be cutting tags when that money pays for 80% of their budget every year. That is one reason they are in a real money bind and it will get worse when they depend on license sales for their existence!

I hope I didn't give the

I hope I didn't give the impression I was critcizing the Wyoming DFG. That was not my intent. I believe they do a fantastic job, certainly far better than the politically driven DFG in Cali. Wyoming knows how to manage its game. The area we hunt seems to have as much game as it did when we first hunted it, although the ranchers did state the drought hurt the mule deer herd somewhat and they weren't seeing the bigger racks. One rancher greatly reduced the number of "paid" buck hunts on his ranch because he couldn't get his hunters the trophies. We were lucky in obtaining leftover white tail doe/fawn tags yesterday for our group, so we'll be heading back to Wyoming this October. It sure was a relief!

Right now if a guy want to

Right now if a guy wants to hunt without worrying about drawing a tag the way to go is a whitetail tag like you got yesterday, as well as cow elk tags. They have upped the numbers on those tags to where you can take a bull if you draw that tag, as well as two cow tags. I got two leftover doe antelope licenses yesterday and will buy a leftover buck deer tag next month for tha area I hunt every year so I can spread the CC payments to two months. There are units left if you do the proper research where you can still buy two leftover buck antelope tags and up to four doe tags. There is accessible BLM land available even though the units show on the G&F site as hard to access, but it takes some time and research to find them. Unit 23 is a good example (hint hint!).
