Wyoming DIY hunt help

Hello, My 9 year old asked yesterday if I could take him Pronghorn hunting this year so he can experience a hunt.  I've never gone before and i have heard that Wyoming is good ($35 for a doe tag).  I realize its the 11th hour as the draw is next week, but does anyone have any advice for a good public land, 0pp, oportunity i can apply for and take him?  I've got no clue and here in Colorado, it seems i need a few points to get anything.  I should mention that i'm furiously searching the web and i'm not afraid to do my homework, i just have no clue what unit to put in for.

Thanks

Jeremy

Where are you reading that

Where are you reading that the draw deadline is next week?  From what I have looked at on the hunt planner for Wyoming you have until May 31 to submit your application for antelope.

As for where to go, find a area that has easy access and a lot of BLM land if you don't want to go knocking on doors to get access to the property.  Some of the units that others on here have used in years past for doe/fawn permits are 50, 30, and 46.

You are right

Critter, I was mistaken, its not due till the end of may, I dont know what I was thinking.  Now I have time to make some calls to the wyoming fish and game.  First things first, get my Colorado apps in, I may try a pronghorn RFW.

Wyoming has a 12 year old age requiement for big game hunting. You can apply if you are 11 years old and turn 12 before the hunt begins.

True

Yes, true, he would have to be 12 to get a tag and pull the trigger.  He just wants to go out with me and i figure Pronghorn is a good place to start.  I really dont want to take him elk hunting until he is old enough to shoot.  Thanks for the replies, i apprecaie it.
