Wyoming antelope..not a good start!

I had the worst hunt of my life a few weeks back.  Bow broke down again and I missed a doe, then a run in withn another hunter that thinks he owns all the public land in WY.

All that aside it was good to get out.  had two real nice buck come one to 33 yards and the other to 40 yards.  Had some cows come in and be my confidence decoys.  in the last picture the doe on the right is the one I missed....after I shot she ran out 20 yards stopped and starting feeding again all the way up that hill...took them over an hour ro clear the hill.  Hope to get back soon with the bow...if not I will let them have it come rifle season!

Too bad things didn't go as

Too bad things didn't go as well as you had hoped. It's the worst when equipment problems bring your hunt to an end. You plan all year sometimes with no problems and then they show up when they hurt you the most. I have never had problems with other hunters while in Wyoming but have had a few run ins with guys here in Colorado that got terribly irate that we were hunting the same public lands that they were. They set up watching the access trail to get farther back and then got upset that people were actually hiking in thier hunting spot.

Hope things go better for you the next time out. I have a lot of respect for you guys chasing them with a bow. Good luck

Sorry to hear that Goose.

Sorry to hear that Goose.  What happened to the bow?  Temporary malfunction, or did it actually get damaged?

Out of curiosity, when you hunt the archery season out there in Wyoming, is it an either sex tag, or were you only going for does?  I know during rifle season, they are sex specific, correct?

In rifle season the tags are

In rifle season the tags are either doe/fawn specific or labeled as any antelope. It would be rare though to have to put a $300 any antelope tag on a doe instead of a buck. I did it once when we ran out of time and didn't get a chance to fill my second any tag with a buck. I only bought one this year as  the cost was getting to be too much.

Tags are sex specfic.  I have

Tags are sex specfic.  I have tow does tags and I was hoping to take one with bow and one with rifle.  My wife and dad both have two tags, so it should make for a good pile if we can fill them all.

The rest on the bow quit dropping again.  It did it about 6 weeks before the season took it in to the shop they..."fixed" it.  I shot it about 100 right before I left and no problems, then I have the same problem when it mattered most.  Talked to a rep from the company and he said that their rest and Hoyt bows have a little problem with the rubber stop on my top cam.  I had to take the rest apart and trim a ring and a half a tiny little spring inside.  Seems to be shooting fine so far.  next time I will shoot it in the dark at the dirt with an old arrow before I wait til the monent of truth.

Wyoming antelope

Goose that sucks but hope you can fill those tags soon with you bow but if not the rifle will still be a good hunt. I really hate it when a trip is messed up due to equipment failure. I have gone up to Wyoming a few time and helped thin the doe herd a bit. Allot of good meat and great jerky. Last trip up we had 5 hunters, 2 trucks and took 10 antelope. We looked like the Clampets go hunting packing it all back home.

You knwo the bow failing did

You knwo the bow failing did not bother me nearly as much as the Wyoming resident that thought he owned the whole county.  Really put a bad taste in my mouth, hopedfully I ca get over it...I am sure I will.
