Anyone else headed to Wyo this weekend? Perfect timing for hunting Antelope. Casper could get 21 inches last report I seen. Might only see the black of their horns!! Everyone drive safe, less then perfect out there and I know it will be tough going. Post up how you do. I am sure I will have some buried and stuck vehicle pic's. Good luck guy's!

We were planning on heading
We were planning on heading up to Wyoming tomorrow afternoon and hunting this weekend. Due to the weather forecast we changed our plans and are now going next weekend (12th & 13th) instead.
Camping in the snow isn't much fun, but we could have solved that problem pretty easily by staying at a KOA or cheap motel. My biggest reservation was running into bad dirt and gravel roads, either getting stuck in the ditch or not being able to get to the antelope...or both. Hopefully a week of warmer weather will be enough to thaw out the roads and dry them up a bit. If not, we'll have a tough hunt this year.
Good luck and post back on how the conditions are. Thanks!

They were pretty brutal. You made the right choice as it looks to improve greatly. Was getting better Sunday, but Muddier. Some places had 3-4 foot drifts over the road. I am still looking for my buck. My buddy tagged out on this one. 14 1/4 incher.

That's a nice buck--we'd settle for that!
Thanks for the update on the roads. Hope they're not too muddy by the weekend.

We had a good time, even
We had a good time, even though the hunting was pretty tough compared to what we've come to expect. My son was able to close the deal on nice doe.
The mud did create issues for our group. I didn't get stuck, but another in our party buried his truck up to the axles--cost him $400 to get it pulled out by a wrecker on Sunday morning. Ouch!
My son had a couple of opportunities at 2 different herd bucks, both pretty good, probably in the 15" range. We passed up a couple of small young bucks and he missed a couple of other shots at some decent satellite bucks. Kind of tough shots in crappy weather and strong winds. Not our usual easy, enjoyable wyoming antelope trip. Ended up being lots more work putting in several miles for each stalk. The goats were VERY nervous too, making the hunting that much more challenging.
All in all, we'll look to head back to our "regular" units next year. Not that 48 was bad, but it really wasn't nearly as good as our our favorite units.
Hope you fared better than we did on the buck.

I have 2 spotted that I like! Hopefully they will be in the neighborhood in a week and a half when I get back up there!!!. Physical therapy is ramping up during the week and I get pretty sore with just a little bike work! Walking in the mud just puts me in a bad way(Back)! Congrats on the fine does. Are you going back before the end of season?

Nope. We didn't have a lot
Nope. We didn't have a lot of time and planned on just going for a single weekend. We won't be going back again this year. We're moving on to elk hunting next month.
Good luck on finding the bucks you're looking for.
