Would you have killed Bozo?

No, I don't mean the clown, but the big black bear recently killed in PA.  My intitial thought is if I were out black bear hunting and I came across him (not sure if I would be able to tell it was Bozo) I definitely would have killed him.

What I am not sure is if I would pattern the bear knowing that it was being fed.    I don't fault the hunter that killed him if that is what he did....just not sure what I would do...have to think on it a bit.

Without a second thought. Any

Without a second thought. Any bear that is habituated to humans feeding it needs removed from the gene pool. And the fool who fed it should be flogged with a dead skunk and escorted out of town.

Chuck, when I think of

Chuck, when I think of Alaska, I think of a wild untamed state with the people having a good understanding of wild animals, but I think I recall reading how trying to tame wild animals is becoming a bigger problem in Alaska resulting in injuries and deaths.

You make a good point about removing it from the gene pool lest those traits are passed on.

I agree, but I don't think I would be so kind to those types of people as you suggest. lol

We have our share of fools

We have our share of fools who think bears are cuddly little balls of fluff. Timothy Tredwell who got himself removed from society and the Bear man from Animal Planet. I live 10 miles from the Bear Man that fool lived in a fairly populated area, at least by bush standards. He is one who should have been flogged with a dead shunk, he didn't use the common sense of a rock.

That is exactly where I would

That is exactly where I would stand on this issue.  If it were to ander by while I was bear hunting, then dead bear.  However, there is no way I would specifically target a bear like this.  What the guy did in this situation, while legal, still didn't set well with me.

Good hunt or Shennanigans

Something weird about this hunt. Would I have shot the bozo the bear if I was random joe the hunter oh yeah for sure.  Would I have taken part in this scheme, if that is what it was, no way jose.  I detect some shennanigans with this story.  Is it possible Mr Lewis was feeding bozo with plans on growing his own trophy, like some pond owners do with bass?  Or did he just like the bear and was being a kind soul.  Only they know for sure.  And we may never.
