A word of caution about safety

I just wanted to warn everyone with everything to do outside for the summer about safety. My daughter was at the lake in Rifle yesterday with my grandson and her boyfriend and his son. Although in my experience he has always been pretty safe he caused a very serious accident that could have turned out much worse than it did. He rode his jet ski in too fast and claims the throttle stuck open when he went to shut it down and struck his own 12 year old son directly and then a glancing blow to my daughter who was standing on the beach where he crashed it. My daughter and grandson are fine and it looks like his son will be as well but he was taken to grand juntion as they were unsure of head injuries. They initially thought he had been killed outright.

Just be careful out there. Even when you think you know what you are doing accidents can still happen with just one moment of carelessness.

Yikes

very scary - glad it wasn't worse.  Be careful out there - especially in the water.

Every thing is fine and he

Every thing is fine and he has been able to go home today. He had an air pocket or something behind his ear that was throwing him off but it's nothing serious and no permanent damage. Other than being knocked out and banged up he's good to go. Teh young guys healup way faster than I do anymore.

My daughter has a cracked rib and a few bruises but she will be fine as well.

I'm glad to hear everyone is

I'm glad to hear everyone is gonna be fine. Thank goodness. From a father with two grown daughters, two sons-in-law and 5 grands, I'd think a little talk with that fella might be in order.

Expirience

With expirience comes wisdom.

As we grow older we realize we are not 8' tall and bulletproof. The youngsters will come to realize this, or they will be crippled or dead.

I'm glad eveyone is basically OK.

This is very true. I have

This is very true. I have broken all four limbs and many smaller bones when I was younger. I look at life much differently now and the possible outcome of my actions and the decisions that I make. Other than one dislocation that hurts often I have healed well and learned well.

But unfortunately our children refuse to learn from our mistakes.
