Wolf & Preditor Control ?

Idaho tolerates 800 wolves, they are in the process of removal from the federal endanged spiececes list , idaho wants to issue tags for 26.50 a tag. if you go to the idaho fish and game web sight there is good info on wolves and wolf attacks. (cattle, dogs ect). there is also a sight where three grown women and there dogs were attacked. The wolves are getting more and more brazened, an inside reliable source in the idaho fish and game office said that would glady issue 800 tags for the 800 wolves. They have become that much of a problem.

great news...wolf control goes back a long ways in BC Canada

It is good that they are aware of the problem now..although its my opinion that it might be to late to slow them down.In BC we have a open season and a trapping season. We are also allowed to bait. All this does not come close to reducing the packs enough...800 tags wouldn't kill 800 wolves unfortunatly...

It is a huge problem in BC. I saw a picture of a North Eastern Sheep area where a pack of 5 wolves killed 21 Rams on one hillside and never ate one.Once started they killed for fun or instinct. This incident was documented by bioligist, and then again this photo was show to our Fish & game dept last mounth...

I could on ....but...predation is the number one cause of decline of Mountain Caribou in BC. ..we need more than a general open season to deal with it....

My opionion is that all preadators need to be managed just like big game or anything else. when you don't allow hunting of preadtors like in california you become over run with them like the cats out there. I don't think we should kill um all, but some thing needs to be done.

I definitely agree with the Mountain Lion problem in California. There are getting to be a very large population of cats in areas, especially around housing areas that contain safe deer populations in Northern California. I believe the only reason that Mountain Lions aren't controlled in California is due to Politicians and environmentalists that feel we shouldn't endanger them. If they were the ones actually out in the woods they'd see that the cats have made a good comeback and need to be properly managed.

I suppose I'm old-school and possibly just a tad politically incorrect, but I think we oughta shoot/trap all the wolves out of existence. They're basically useless and I don't like 'em. They're hard on the elk populations. They move into an area and things change fast. I guess I'd rather have lots of elk than ANY wolves.

One other point that I would like to make about the senate and congress not wanting us to control the wolves and grizz with hunting is, they say that they were native to the area, I thought that they were all over not just in wyoming montana and idaho. Ya think that they would still feel the same if we were to turn some wolves and grizz loose in central park??? Laugh

Yes you might be on to something, I do believe central park had wolves and black bear. We might not be able to get them the original species of wolf but we can get them 200 pound, northern Canadian ones.
