Wolf killed in eastern oregon

Here is a link to a story about a wolf shot and killed in eastern oregon and the animal right s group putting up $10,000 for a reward.

http://www.kptv.com/news/26861906/detail.html

I say good ridance. I dont want wolfs to spread all over my normal hunting grounds, our deer and elk herd are already shrinking due to cougars and bears.

Activists, not Conservationists

I think poaching is disgusting, but this seems like a situation where law enforcement has it covered.  I think these "conservation" groups saw an opportunity to get attention, and they took it.  It is amazing how these "conservation" groups will spend $10,000 for publicity like this when they could spend the money on habit preservation and improvement to help target species.  But then I guess they actually would be conservationists instead of activists.

farbeit for them to put some

farbeit for them to put some money in the proverbial pot with our license and tag fees for habitat restoration.

but they'll gladly put a reward out there to find somebody who's probably just a stupid kid who was bored on his daddy's ranch.

I agree with both points. The wolves need to be controlled and these sometimes misinformed people and some flat out crazy activists need to get out of the way.

Poaching can not be condoned even if we agree with the reason.

I think it's ironic that someone can out up a 10,000 dollar reward for an animal when so many true crimes against humans are ignored because no one cares.

I would love to hunt wolves someday but I hope they stay out of my state and away from my deer. I will hunt them somewhere else if I ever get the chance.

I live close to Aspen which is of course a very liberal area and you would be amazed how many people truly believe that wolves are nearly extinct.

I guess i should have worded

I guess i should have worded that last statement a little different. I DO NOT condon poaching or illegaly taking animals. What i meant was I'm not loosing any sleep over it. The person who shot it was more than likely a farmer, last year there was quit a few attacks on cattle and other live stalk by the wolfs over there. The USFW and ODFW confirmed the attacks and killed 3 wolf in the act of attacking livestalk. I agree its stupid that they are putting up a $10,000 reward when that money would be better served as a donation for habitat or research.

I knew what you meant, and I

I knew what you meant, and I agree.  Incidents like this get blown completely out of proportion and judgements are made before any real information is known about the circumstances.

wolves

Wolves need to be managed by the states.  Some people are going to do just that reguardless of the law.  This wont be the first.

Anybody ever think that it

Anybody ever think that it may have been one of their own that did it so they could put up that money and get a lot of publicity and donations!!!  They aren't stupid and I wouldn't put anything past them when it comes to moving their cause forward.  That cause is to eliminate ALL hunting and you are wrong if you think it's anything else!!!

Thanks James, as I also think

Thanks James, as I also think that they do a lot more of that to further their agenda than one might realize!  On another note, I see you are from NM and I love that beautiful avatar of yours!  Have you ever been lucky enough to draw the tag down on the Sands and pop one?  I was just down on the border of the Gila Wilderness the end of October on a muzzleloader mulie hunt and had a great time, even though we got skunked.
