Here in Ohio bow season ends on February the 5th. I will be trying to get one more doe to top off the freezer and to fill my last tag. I will only be able to get out Friday and Saturday evenings. I will update you all whether I was successful or not.

Wow, hunting into February
Wow, hunting into February that far north? Didn't know they went that late, only heard of that further south in Texas, and other gulf states.
Very cool! Hope you put the smackdown on one this weekend! Let us know how you do!

Does Ohio offer crossbow as an option during all archery seasons, or simply some of the time? In Tennessee we are crossbow-able for our entire archery season, but in Kentucky it's an additional season and not open throughout the entire archery season.

Friday evening was not very good. I saw some fowl in the air and 2 cats slinking by my stand. As I was leaving the property I saw 2 nice doe crossing over the driveway. Hopefully Saturday evening will be better. Good luck to you all as well if anyone else is still trying that is. Hopefully we will have some pics and some stories to tell. If I get one this will be my first February deer. Yes, you can use a crossbow the entire archery season.

Saturday was successful with
Saturday was successful with one downfall. I took out a deer in the same stand I started in and took one out on opening day. On my last day I took out a shed buck. I looked it over best I could before I shot and weighed several factors and thought the odds were in my favor it was a doe. Well, it was a shed buck and I think it may have been one I had on the hit-list. I measured both bases and they were both nearly 6". Now I will be getting out there looking for these sheds.

Very cool! I know the antlers would be nice, but if he would have been on your hit list a couple months ago with antlers, no reason he shouldn't have been without them....

I talked with my taxidermist
I talked with my taxidermist this evening and he said I really need to get out there and look for those sheds. He cleaned up the skull and took the biggest antler he had laying around and said this buck was bigger than the one he tried and the one he tried was huge. So, I'm more upset now than I think I was before. But, I will be taking four of us out on Thursday and we are determined to find them.
