Wish I was in the woods.....

Man, last Monday, it was 115 degrees at my house.  Not even thinking about hunting.  One week later, it's cool, misty, and not even going to get out of the 60's today.  Probably even stay in the 50's in the mountains.  Just wish I was in a trre stand.  With the last couple of posts about hunting in the rain, this is my absolute favorite time to be in the woods.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it's kinda hard to hear the deer coming, but it's very, very peaceful.

woods

The rain isn't bad but my absolute favorite time to be in the woods is a frosty sunny december morning.  I love when the frost is sitting on the grass and the leaves as the sun starts to come up.  With no wind where you can see your breath slowly roll away.  The moment only lasts for maybe 15 minutes when the sun is at just the right height on the horizon but when it's there it's perfect!

I like that time of year too,

I like that time of year too, but in oregon there really isnt any hunting going on that time of, our late season archery wraps up DEC 13 and after that theres just a few controled hunts going on. but i agree theres nothing like being in the woods on those cool frosty mornings.

wow

Wow...I can't imagine if hunting season ended in December!  i think us Pa hunters would stage a revolt.  There's something for us to hunt clear up to April!  It's not always big game but if you're into running rabbits with beagles or calling in a few canadas or snows you're set.

lol

Yeah it kinda sucks, but bear season goes till DEC31 and cougar goes year round as well as yotes so i guess i could still get out there and have something to hunt. There are a few deer and elk hunts that go into JAN and FEB. but those are controoled draw tags and I unfortunitly didnt draw one this year. I wish our seasons were set up a little different, and I wish we could shoot more than one deer, it would be nice to get 1 buck and 1 doe every year.

I am just talking about

I am just talking about Archery deer.  That season, mixed with rifle, is 4 months long.  However, we can keep hunting quail and ducks till the end of January, and we can hunt rabbits till the end of March.  Then, in the end of March, Turkey season opens, and it goes till the end of May.  Also, if they are in your area, pig hunting is year round and unlimited tags.

So, we do have lots of time to hunt here......Thumbs up

It is killing me not being in

It is killing me not being in the woods.  We do have duck seasojn in right now, but it's just not the same.  plus I am spending my off time getting ready for elk season, gathering gear and making sure the truck is ready and such.  Gonna be a long couple weeks.

Cause I work Monday-Friday,

Cause I work Monday-Friday, and my tree stand is 78 miles one way from the house.  Not like I can really run out there after work.  I am going again on Monday or Tuesday though.
