Wisconsin Deer Hunters Urged to Help Eliminate Feral Pigs

We filled freezer first three days and wife got a nice buck so we're done--good snow cover last week or so BUT very few tracks across our 1/2 mi driveway or in our pastures--not the case in prior years--also as to work of DNR--Just ask duckers about the concealment rules --rthere is another fiasco that has confused and angered hunters for years and the DNR gives different answers depending upon who you talk with and when.

My main dissatisfaction is the wasteful slaughter of baby deer. The idea that we should shoot more than we need and just toss the rest. If you want non-res. to flock here to spend money, you better have deer, and I mean mature deer... A nice balanced herd.
With that said, my oldest son gave up hunting when it turned into a blood bath. For a boy who loves animals, it sickened him to see hunters shooting fawns to earn a buck and then just toss them into a ditch or a DNR supplied dumpster. He was taught to respect these animals. When there were absolutely no limits in southern Wisconsins CWD zone we hunted and he noted that every deer he seen was wounded, and all were stressed... Is that hunting? He quit, and has refused to go back out with me... James, my younger boy, has been trying to keep up the enthusiasm but its starting to wear on him also... He says why hunt if there are no quality animals to shoot... He hunted a couple weekends with bow this year then gave up. For the 1st time ever, he decided not to join me in the gun hunt...
If we have increased hunters, its killers, not hunters... People who enjoy killing lots of fawns and 1 1/2 hyear old deer that never got a chance to grow up...
The WDNR makes me sick!

Wow...feral hogs, DNR dummies. soccer mom white tails, bambi butchering and state supplied deer dumpsters. I'm really glad I live up north. We just hunt up here. You guys should drive up and visit. Maybe buy some fresh cheese curds. Have some pickled eggs at the bar with a nice cold one. That'll put ya in the huntin" spirit. Get those boys out of the Chicago suburbs and bring 'em up to the real woods. Show 'em some real deer... you betcha.

Wait...let me check...maybe I'm on the Texas forum by mistake...

Never bring a knife to a gun fight.

It's easy to tell you are not from Wisconsin. If you were you certainly wouldn't be singing the praises of our beloved dnr. They screw everything up won't admit they were wrong and then when they can't deny they were wrong they try to spin their problems to be the hunters fault. When I see tons of pigs then I will believe the dnr's theory of a problem. Until then I will just chalk it up to them trying to scare like the whole cwd epidemic. Oh did you hear that next year santa's sleigh is going to be pulled by 100 reindeer....The dnr re-counted the numbers after christmas.

You've got to be kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!
The WI DNR are a bunch of political appointees who don't know their a** from a hole in the ground. They have decimated the deer herd in parts of WI to one deer to forty acres. They screwed up the count and encouraged hunters to kill as many antlerless deer as they want for two dollars a tag. There was one family that took a picture of fifty-four antlerless deer hanging in a tree. How many nubbies do you think were slaughtered in that massacre? It will take many years for that area to rebound, if ever. I am a farmer and land owner and this is what I and many neighbors are going to do. We are closing our land to all hunting for two years, then we will se how many deer we have. The DNR has lost several thousand acres of hunting land because of their erradication attitude. We may never again open our land up to hunting. Think about it the next time you ask for permission to hunt on private land. Maybe if enough people follow our lead the DNR will think about what they are doing. The slaughter and erradication must stop. Think Think

Keith Warnke of the WDNR is proposing the goal at 732,043 deer after this hunting season... We have about that many deer hunters in Wisconsin...

Can you believe that crap? eye roll

Wisconsin has more than 700,000 deer hunters who have harvested an average of 480,000 deer annually

And the slaughter continues...

Get serious--Of course I can believe it-- It's Wisconsin ain't it?? Home of liberals, big spenders(politicians that is) and bulging deficets-which the Demos expect DC to bail them out- oh yes add in the DNR head being picked by Doyle boyo.

I think a few of you took my statement way out of context. I NEVER stated the WDNR was doing EVERYTHING right...........only about the pigs.

The Wisconsin DNR is right about the wild pig concern. You need to get rid of them before they become a problem. One only needs to look at other places where they are a problem to learn the facts.

Residents of every state can and should complain about different things their DNR is doing wrong. But we should also acknowledge the things they are doing right.

I might agree with that if they allowed licensed deer hunters to shoot them during gun deer season... But you cannot shoot a feral hog in Wisconsin unless you 1st purchase a small game license... I wouldn't call that doing the right thing.
