winter

It looks like winter will make one more apperance here in portland, we are gonna get up to 7 inches of snow here between wed and thurs and into friday. I was hopeing with our mild winter so far i could get out and do some scouting this weekend but it looks like it will have to wait till the snow melts off.

I went out into the area that

I went out into the area that I shed hunt last weekend and it still looks like 6 more weeks of winter.  No sheds and no rabbits, that was a sad trip.  I can't complain about the winter so far this year, it has been a calm one and we have only had a couple of snow storms that I needed to scrape off of my driveway and since there are usually still 3+ feet of snow around my house this time of year I won't complane.  The forcast is still calling for snow the rest of the week but this time of year I don't worry about it.

I know there will be some

I know there will be some more snow yet but it won't last long now. Almost everything down in the valley is melted and it nearly broke 50 degrees today so the end is near. I always consider March 1st the official end of winter for me. It might snow but there will be plenty of nice days also.

The funny thing about getting

The funny thing about getting snow in Portland is its kinda rare, it hasnt happened this late in FEB in 15 years. When we even get a dusting of snow this town shuts down and its a full panic by the residents. Its extremely funny. I'm from northern Minnesota so i'm used to the snow and i go the mountains all the time for hunting related things as well as snowboarding, I'm very comfortable driving on the stuff. But for the typical portlander they suck at driving normaly so when you through some snow in to the mix it get pretty ugly, I like just sitting back and watching all the idiots trying to manuver around. Oh yea, the schools shut down if theres even a snow flake in the air. its really pathetic. should be some good enertainment for the next few days though.

we are scheduled for another major snow and ice dump this weekend - Thursday night through Tuesday morning - maybe a little rain and mix but mostly MORE of that lousy stinking miserable white stuff!

Hey Numb, looks like you guys

Hey Numb, looks like you guys are sending that storm to us in the south.

They are calling for 35 year records for the lowest high temp here, not supposed to get above 51 or 52.

My hunting areas in the foothills just 40 miles away are going to get a foot of snow, and they are saying that the snow level could actually drop to 1,000-1,500 feet.  It'll be below freezing at night.

I saw bring it on!  I love sleeping in the cold, plus it makes the morning coffee all that much better!!! Yes

It wasnt much of a storm, I woke up to about 3 inches of snow. Of coarse the people here freaked out and shut down all the schools and stuff now theres no snow on the ground but its just started snowing again, its supossed to drop into the teens tonight and be about 30 tomarrow so all this stuff will freeze and should be nice and icy in the morning, glad i'll be off tomarrow.  good luck and hopefully you make it through the blizzard(sarcasim).LOL lol

Wow man, not supposed to get

Wow man, not supposed to get above 51? That must be absolutely terrifying. lol

Usually no amount of snow will close the schools here. Only if the heat goes out in the schools or the ice is so bad and the wind makes visibility to bad to drive safely at all.

I actually don't mind driving on the snow and ice at all as I have done so my whole life. It's just the people that think the terms 4 wheel drive and drive really fast mean the same thing are the ones scare me to death. Almost every storm somebody gets hurt really bad from driving like it's summer time.

But that's a 35 year low.  At night, it will be below freezing, and my mother in law up in the mountains only an hour away, is predicted to get 2 feet out of this.  Wink

17* here this morning and

17* here this morning and snowing. already had about 6" left from last week and got maybe 1" more. Snowing lightly now and 19*, supposed to get just under 10* tonight. Went up to Shaniko this afternoon and was snowing there and about 3" new stuff on the ground. Wouldn't be that bad but the wind is blowing pretty good and that makes it really cold. Went to Redmond yesterday and no snow. In Madras this morning, no snow. Been warmer in Madras last few days than here, usually about the same.
