Winchester model 70 .270 WCF HELP!!!!!

My dad just willed me a Winchester Model 70 in .270 WCF with a serial #36450 on the barrel and the bolt. I didn't even know he had the rifle. My uncle says he thinks it belonged to my Grandfather. I can't ask him as he died in WWII. Anyone know where I can go look to find more info on this gun?
Thanks!!!

the gun is probably a early model 70. post a pic of it here if possible. early rifles in good original condition are very valuable. the serial # will tell you however my gun book is at camp. would like to see a closeup picture.

Very nice. That's a 1941 manufactured rifle. Let's see it. By the way, if you you're looking to sell it, PM me.

In EXCELLENT condition this rifle would likely be worth $1500-2000, maybe a bit more. In less than, like new condition, less, obviously. But this rifle is a definite collector piece. I own one a few years newer and simply look at it as a "shooter", what it was meant to be. People look at things differently, but I have always felt guns were made to shoot, not look at, just as cars were made to drive, as well. It's a special gun, as it came with some heritage.

Call me crazy!, but keep it!
