Even though the 30-30 isn't my first choice for elk, thousands of Big heavy Game have been taken with this proven cartridge.

It's not safe to use any pointed bullet inside a tubular magazine. Nosler makes a 30 caliber 170-gr. round-nosed Partition which Federal loads in 30-30.

I didn't realize the partition came round nosed. That is good to know.

You don't want one of those pointed noses touching off the round in front of it.

Oh, by the way, I hunt elk with a muzzleloader that probably has less range (though not by much) than a .30-30 lever action. I see absolutely no reason a .30-30 wouldn't be an excellent elk rifle, so long as you aren't dumb enough to try 300 yard shots. But then, the truth is that most hunters who carry the super-duper magnums can't shoot well enough to be trying 300 yard shots anyway!

as bad as it sounds there are places where this is done on a regular basis. There are clubs, heck even "Super Clubs", that people go to and do nothing but kill beers!!! Unbelievable I know but true. Most dont kill em with a .30-.30 though, they will just tear off the beers top and suck the juice from it and discard the beers body in the trash can. Some even have worship time after a night/day of killing beers where they lock themselves in the bathroom and kneel down and pray to the "porcelain god" as they call it. Disgusting !!!
I myself am guilty of beer killing having killed several thousand in my lifetime. It is very addicting though, seems like the more beers you kill the more beers you want to kill again, its a vicious cycle. I was lucky though, I was able to see the "inhumanity" of this and was able to stop, however, many are not as fortunate. Kill too many beers to quicly though and you do feel quite badly.

Okay, this I can see. But doing it with a rifle!!!! That's just not right.

Im gonna try to do the beer grand slam with my bow this year,I dont know if my carbon arrows will penetrate the grand daddy of em all the south african 16 Gal keg,I may have to go back to alm arrows for the trip!

Especially if you kill large amounts of Wild Turkey with those beers!
