Win This Month – Better Learn to Reload!

 Whoa – sticker shock!

We are all working very hard this month trying to win the top prize – the 300 Remington Ultra Mag rifle.

Whoever wins – better either have a reloading press – or go get one!

I was at an outdoor store today and they stock reams of ammo at this place… they only had one offering in 300 RUM – it was a 180 grain – MV of 3150 -  and was $67.00 per box.

That is $5.58 per shot. I only thought the Barnes Expander 20 gauge shotgun slugs were expensive at $3.00 each.

Ouch!

The box was huge – about 2x bigger than a box of .308 ammo.

Talk about sticker shock – you could go broke just sighting that bad boy in…

lol

I'll risk it Jim, I'm all set up to reload.  But if you want to drop out, just go away for 8 or 9 days and don't worry about the cost of those cartridges any more ;)

prices

Prices on that stuff can vary dramatically depending on where you shop.  Big chains will have the better prices.  Small mom and pop shops will always be the most expensive, sometimes unreasonable.

The 300 RUM is probably not

The 300 RUM is probably not as popular, but how did you come up with that price per round when there are usually 20 per box?  To get your price per round there would only be 12 rounds in a box, or am I missing something?

On Midways site it has .300

On Midways site it has .300 RUM ammo for anywhere from $32.00 to $85.00. So for a low of $1.60 a round to a little over $4.00 for a premium loaded bullet. It is no different than any other magnum round when you want the premium bullets. http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseProducts.aspx?pageNum=1&tabId=3&ca...

Top Gun, Ooops - I screwed up

Top Gun,

Ooops - I screwed up and you are entirely correct!

I stand corrected - at 20 rounds, which is right, and $67 per box, that would be $3.35 per shot.

My bad and I apologize!

Jim
