Wildlife is plentiful

Yes As bad as last winter was, for deer and owl, I cannot believe how well they all look. Deer, bear, moose and turkey are plentiful. The snow was so deep this last winter, I saw so many dead deer, yearlings just dead on the side of the snowmobile trails, from exhaustion or starvation, along with owls. What I have seen so far looks like they all bounced back well, and looking good. Thumbs up

Same here Annie. I found the remains of several nice bucks rutted out and dead on the side of the VAST trail. Lots of yearlings lost here as well, but still have an abundance of deer. I couldn't believe my eyes when they started coming out of the yards, there were so many of them. They have spread out now, but I still see at least one a day. What part of the NEK are you in?

You know what happens when it's a cold winter, there is a pregnancy burst in the spring....Wonder if it works the same with wildlife. I am totally amazed by the abundant amount of wildlife I have been seeing. Alot of multiple births too.
I have seen more bears with triplets and twins, and deer with twins, and the turkeys, with huge flocks. I have seen a catamount, and bob cat, I think all the rabbit brought them in, who knows. Then I had a moose with a calf hang around for over a week, moms leg was injured, think she was laying low. But I did see my first huge moose with large rack and full beard. Haven't seen one that big in years. Almost looked like the stuffed one in Glover. Stud muffin he is...
Gotta love the Kingdom, I live near Willoughby Lake, and you? What a winter we had. Love my snowmobiling, and that was the good part of the winter, the shoveling and plowing and power outages SUCKED, never mind the toll it took on wildlife, between the owls and deer, with 4000 miles of riding, I must have seen something dead everyday...

I'm as far south in the Kingdom as you can get on the Ryegate/Newbury line. I took my kids fishing yesterday and on the way back home (4 miles) we saw 6 deer (two nice bucks), 15 turkeys, and a young bull moose with only one antler. I can't wait for the archery opener this year!

I can't figure out whats going on, but the deer and bear are really hanging around. Don't know if it's from all the bad weather, or berry time. But I own dogs, and neither seem to be alarmed. I really do think the weather has them moving around so much, but it's been a feast versus famine....Ryegate, love my vet over there, just a long way to go.
