this is why you should only do cannned hunts!!

This is an quote from a website linked to this forum explaining why you should come shoot an elk out of thier pens instead of booking a hunt out west for wild elk.As most of the members and mods of this forum areopposed to this kind of hunting I was suprised to see them advertising this kind of hunting here.
They are catering to the lazy, wealthy people that call themselves hunters but actually have no idea what a hunter is,thier prices are twice what outfitters charger here in MT for a trophy bull hunt in a wilderness area, why would anyone pay twice as much for this style of "hunt"?What do you guys think? Think

Do you think it's easy driving down to Safeway to buy your meat? I'm telling you it's tough...a lot tougher than most people imagine. Here are just some of the problems:

Draught. Sometimes you can get really thirsty walking up and down those aisles and, despite the ready availability of beer, repressive store rules prohibit you from opening one until you wade your way through all the bureaucracy at the check-out counter, where some pimply faced kid paws his way over every bit of your hard earned purchase.

Winter kill. Unless you're willing to pay a premium for hand-wrapped cuts, you run the risk of freezer burn in the deep freeze section.

Predators. It never fails that when there's a really good sale someone else gets there first and scarfs up all the $1.49 burger, leaving you with nothing but ground round or buck a pound grease bombs.

Weather. Always a problem -- if it's not searing heat pouring in through your car windows and melting your ice cream, it's a poorly-plowed parking lot ruining your slippers.

Paying someone to take you out to a pen so you can shoot an animal and still make it to Wendy's for lunch isn't hunting -- it's just killing. I think most on this forum would agree that hunting is about being in close proximity to nature, the thrill of the chase, etc. IMO, people who take a fast-food approach to it and think it's only about putting meat in the pot give the sport a bad name.

LOL Exp GOOD 1! There is no substitute for a quality western elk hunt,I dont care how easy or where it is,I dont understand why a quality forum like this one pretends to support fairchase hunting ethics and then advertises for a place that represents everytyhing true hunters dislike, they have nothing to do with our sport and they do nothing but give the antis amunition to use against us,we got rid of operations like this in our state and I thank God the people of our state have the ethics and common sense not to support operations like this one advertised on this forum. Thumbs up

Shame on You!

No one person should be allowed to define what hunting IS or ISN'T! Though I personally would not consider a high fence hunt (at least not at this time) I'm not going to sit here and dictate that someone else cannot hunt in that manner.

Nevada take it elsewhere. We don't need your type of negativism on this board.

I don't pay attention to the ads anyway. Simply knowing that my fellow members here don't support canned hunting is enough reassurance to me.

PS, Nevada: Don't let the door hit ya you know where on the way out! Talk to the Hand
