You would have what I would consider a domesticated wild turkey or the one that hang around a home or a lawn making a nuisance of themselves. Or a lot like the deer and elk that hang out eating your wife's garden and tearing up the neighborhood. I like hunting the other wild turkeys since it us usually in the spring of the year when nothing else is going on. Fishing isn't that good yet or just getting there and there are no other hunts going on. Not to mention getting out of the house for a weekend or longer. The other thing is that they are very good eating. I'll usually will breast them out and take the wings, legs and sometimes the thighs and make soup with them. Now I can't wait until next April to go get myself another one.

If they were pooping around my house like that and I was allowed 5, I'd be popping my 5 birds.

I would consider it a health hazard and I would be doing it merely for the safety of my family.

I think it's so popular with some overly enthusiastic folks because after the shot they get to jump up and down for joy, sing praises of hallelujah, and thank the lord for being able to shoot that there turkey

the first turkey tag is something like $18 the next tag is $15 and than $5 a tag after that. My wolf tag was $11. I believe turkey tags are the same amount as deer tags. I just see all these turkey tv shows and just haven't got it. I guess if i didn't have anything else to do.

I am glad to hear that some people just like getting out. I guess that hasn't beeen a problem for me. There is so much snow in april in the mountains that it is time to go big and start chute climbing and pushing the limits. So spring hunting has never been big for me. I get to much adrenaline dropping cornices. I am glad to see people aren't doing it for the challenge, becasue there just doesn't seem to be any. I guess i am just blessed with an overabundance of birds near me.

I have heard people describe it like calling in a bull elk, and i just haven't bought that one yet. lol

With my proximity to northern Idaho you would think I would share the same opinion, but the turkeys in Washington are elusive. We have a Spring and Fall season. I dont consider myself a Big Time turkey hunter, but I like to do it. Its more fun in the Spring when you can call em. fall hunts consist of picking a big bird out of the flock that invade the property. And thats If and only IF they show up. Didnt get one this fall, maybe I am just a lousy turkey hunter. They always invade the property, but with the late snowfall this year it pushed the invasion back.

I think the biggest challenge you would have is finding private property that allows you access. You do see some turkey in the woods, but most do seem to be next to a window of a house.

I guess i am just jaded when it comes to turkey hunting. We had one trying to get ina fight with it self last fall. It was on the railing of our deck, battling the turkey it saw in the reflection of the window. IT was funny stupid.
