Why Polls are Meaningless

If the have nots are not having it, they need to go out and get theirs -- not expect that someone will give it to them just because they're converting O2 to CO2.

You claim to have a business pangolin, and we know you don't pay a wage a person or family can live on. So its obvious you're taking advantage of these people. Guess you better pay your employees more, since the profits are obviously lining your pockets. Not many people can leave the country for several months every year to vacation abroad. You're making too much money!! Give it back!!

Believe it or not, it is possible to accumulate wealth without stealing it from someone. But your socialist solutions do, in fact, take something away from someone who's earned it and give it to someone who did nothing for it.

If the ant's reward for a summer's hard work is to have all of his food given to the grasshopper that spent his summer playing around and singing, where is the incentive to work? Your economic system doesn't work, Pango, because it just breeds grasshoppers and starves out the ants. And when the ants are gone, the grasshoppers starve, too.

No I figure just leave it with those who earn it in the first place, then we dont' have to take it back, stop the redistribution upwards. Problem is folks have been getting a free ride too long, party's over, time to get a job.

No one here is getting a free ride. You're posting on the wrong forum! Did you mix us up with Kos?

Do your part and pay your employees better.

Redistribution upward? How do you figure that? Those people at the top are the ones writing the paychecks. And how much of that are they taking back? Hmmm? Zippo. That's "distribution" not "redistribution." Nobody's taking away anything from the workers.

Employers hire people to perform work to advance the company. In return, employers pay their employees for their work. Those wages are determined by market forces -- the more specialized or rare the skill, the more employers must pay for it. Thus, employees are like a business unto themselves -- offering a product into the market to be purchased by those in need. If they don't like the price they're getting for the product, a free market demands that they improve the product by making it more valuable.

What you're advocating is to arbitrarily increase the cost of labor to the employer above what the market will support. To keep his business afloat, the employer has several options: 1) pass on the increased cost of labor to consumers via higher prices for the company's products (which makes the company less able to compete in an open market); 2) Cut labor costs by reducing the work force via cutbacks or automation (which costs jobs); 3) Cut costs in other areas, like reducing capital investment or quality of the company's products (which makes them less competitive in an open market); or 4) Reduce the profit margin (which reduces income and compounds the problem).

You claim to be a business owner that hires employees and you don't understand this stuff?

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." -- Winston Churchill
