Why no Vietnam Vet Presidents?

There have now been 3 people at the top of their parties ticket who were in Vietnam serving their country when there was a war on. Is that it for the Vietnam generation? Anyone left to run who won't be too old in 12 or 16?

We just had a hero of that war run for president. You voted against him as I recall. Next time try voting for the vet. Brick Wall,) Brick Wall,)

I think potatoes will definitely be more expensive by 2012. Given growing populations, increasing energy costs, forays into biofuels, inflation, increasing competition for irrigation water, and an emergent Russian middle class that prefers potato-based Vodka, I think the price will increase for any starchy tuber. This trend will probably accelerate toward 2016 as economic difficulty limits Americans to dining out at McDonald's instead of healthier alternatives.

I guess serving your country doesn't help elect you to office is my point, and that the last 3 presidential election cycles have each involved Vietnam Vet, all to no avail.

Oh also that getting shot down and beat up doesn't seem to be a qualification for president.

Nobody said that getting shot down and beat up was a qualifier for the presidency. If that were the case, the field would've been full of former POWs -- including a friend of mine shot down and held prisoner in Desert Storm.

The contention was that spending 5+ years in the Hanoi Hilton was an indicator of character. Spending 26 years in the Senate was a qualifier for the presidency.

But the real issue here is potatoes. Given a future of rising prices, I predict that McDonald's will start reducing the serving size of their fries in order to keep the price the same for the consumer. JTapia has good reason to be concerned...if fuel prices go back up it'll cost a fortune to ship potatoes from Idaho to Florida.

OMG !!! I was afraid that would be the case.
Add that to the 300% increase in the cost of Hamburgers and we have a problem.
Now we'll have to get a Hamburger Meal Deal Mortgage(HMDM), Federally Insured of course.

For those reading this, I posted potatoes because the original question posed was the most asininacle(hey I invented a new word) question I have ever heard, in my opinion..

Serving your country certainly doesn't seem to help and with the left appeares to be a hinderance. And apparently getting shot down and beat up ( in a war started and lost by the left) only gets you contemptous postings on hunting forums by America haters. Do you truly have such disrespect for those who served and sacrificed as to say something like that? At least your finally showing your true colors with this whole silly post.

To the real issue. I'm a martini drinker so the whole potato thing only effects me if distillaries can't get the real thing. We can allways make Vodka from other sources of needed. Without my nightly cocktail my stress level would be unbearable. I'm really more concerned with how this will hurt the price of olives. This has me very worried. I may have to learn to appreciate scotch.

Oh, man...I didn't event think about the olives. You're right! 93% of olive production comes from the Mediterranean area, and if war breaks out between Iran and Israel, the cost of olives is going to skyrocket. With no olives, Jamaican pimento production will be left without a market and their economy will collapse. No vodka martinis, no pimento loaf sandwiches...and no potato salad. Better stock up on vodka and canned olives while you can.

Wow. You really got me thinking. I'm planting potatoes. I will have cost issues of course shipping these, which is the whole issue, but I've already devised a solution to the problem. I'll just process it into voldka and a watery whipped potatoe product. I will then ship these south via an underground pipeline. Anyone south of me can benefit from good homemade whip potatoes or voldka at just over cost! This is good news for you JTapia. Expat, your still screwed. Maybe I can throw some bottles in the ocean and hope they get to you.

Disclaimer: I am not liable for any harm caused from use of any product obtained from my potatoe pipeline, or ocean born voldka in a bottle.
