Who makes the better laminated stocks. ( Stockeys or Boyds )
A need to know question, has any one delt with Stockeys or Boyds laminated thumb hole rifle stocks or any of there stocks. Are they good quality or junk or should i spend more money and buy from some one else. Thanks.
I don't own either of them yet but I have looked at both in the thumbhole you mentioned. Boyd's is cheaper but in my opinion the Stockey's look like a better stock. If not better at least they seem to have more features. The decelerator pad is a good one and if I do ever actually order one it will be the Bobby Hart with the aluminum bedding block. About 250 but they look great and should be worth it. I paid the same price for a Bell&Carlson thumbhole and it's completely useless if you ever use a bipod as the fore end is so flexible it hits the barrell with just the weight of the gun.
If you're like me and use a plastic tote to store your gear in then you might want to read further. When plastic totes are manufactured they are typically shipped with the lid on. This makes the inside of the tote smell like the plastic it's made of. To remove the plastic smell from the tote I use baking soda. I open the baking soda up and leave the box in the tote with the lid on for about a month to remove the plastic smell. I tried just leaving the lid off but I was still able to smell...
