I have only males -2 BLM's and no problems- both intact--samo when i ran dogs in AK. females always seem to come in heat just during hunting or hunt test/trial seasons-and sled dog females during race season- causes all manner of havoc.
Dogs I have owned or hunted with are, English pointers, GSP's, GWP's, weims, English setters, gordon setters, cocker spaniels, labs, golden retrievers, vizlas, drahthaar's, water spaniels, and boykins. There may be more, I just cant think of the rest. And after hunting and owning these I finally found my favorite, pointing labs!
Hunting is not usually a pursuit where instant gratification abounds. It takes a lot of time, practice, resources and patience to be a successful hunter. So when someone decides that an area they hunted only once without taking an animal is worthless and devoid of game, I don't quite understand it. These people usually jump from game management unit to game management unit; trying a new one every year.
Now don't get me wrong, there are people that just enjoy scouting and hunting...
