WOW, might be easier to tell what I haven't hunted with. How about I hunted with and owned. Springer Spaniels, German Shorthairs, Labrador Retrievers, English Pointers.

Now, trained. Vislas, German Wirehair, Brittany's, English Setters, Gordon Setter. Seems to me there's a couple other's but I forget. Oh yea, a guy brought me a Cocker spaniel for field work once and a girl a Cocker for obedience.

Do non-hunting dogs count? I could add a couple German Shepards and a couple Doberman's.

I forgot, when I was a kid my best friends dad used to take us out with hounds a lot but I've never been a hound man. Let's see he had a couple Plott's, a few Walker's and a Redbone.

Never owned but hunted alot behind English Setters, German Shorthair, Vizsla, Brittanys, Irish Setters, and English Pointers. I have a Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix now but never hunted him. He has a great nose and he makes a great family dog. We found him as a stray and at the time didn't have time to train for hunting.

I wonder if mix dogs make good hunting.

They were selling a English springer spaniel/lab mix for 50.00.

Both parents were hunting dogs.

Maybe and maybe not. That's called a mongrol. If someone purposely crossed those two breeds, why? Most likely it is an accidental breeding, they can't be sure exactly who the parents are and would rather sell them for $50 than put them down. Would anyone be inclined to pay $50 if the ad said "mutt's for sale"? Probally not. But them you never know. Delmar Smith said, "You could find diamonds in Oklahoma but if you really want to find diamonds, your better off looking in Africa".

If they gave you one for free, the worst you'd have is a pet. Don't encourage that kind of breeding by paying for one.

Thanks for the info. Why would they do such a thing?

Why would they? I doubt they did it on purpose but after the pup's are born most people have a tuff time with a water bucket. And why charge for pup's like that? They'll probally sell a few to people that think it should work out well and any they can't sell, they can either give away or take to the humane society. Any way, they don't have to put the pup's down. The problem is we have so many unwanted dogs in this country, this is just a few more. Then on the other side, look in the paper and see what pup's are going for. I don't care what anybody say's, the pup hasn't been born thats worth more than a couple hundred bucks. You can't hardly look at one for less than $400 any more.

By placing these unreasonable prices on pure bred dogs, makes something that might do, look good for $50.
