Hey Coues, I live in Mesa as well. I decided to put in my applications the old fashion way this year in case there were any bugs in the new on-line process. Just chicken I guess.
All my choices are for archery and I'm partial to 5a for Elk, 21 for Antelope. I hunt deer/turkey on the Rim in the summer season, and hit the desert for deer/javelina in the winter. For Coues I usually head down to unit 35b, but haven't done so in a couple years. My wife and son have apps in for pretty much the same areas but for the rifle season hunts.
When calling coyotes, more often than not they will circle on a target they are
coming into and approach from the downwind side. Presumably they do this in
order to align what they smell, with what they are hearing.
This means that you should always have your downwind side camouflaged and have
an open shooting lane. If the area is heavily covered the coyote could come in
take a look and be gone, with you none the wiser.
