Who is........

Who is getting excited for the new season and application rush? Lately, this place has been too quiet so I hope this e-mail gets some folks at least a little fired up! I am planning on going west this year, probabaly Colarado with a muzzle loader, even in spite of rising gas prices. :rotest1

Also planning on buying more points for Wy and looking into Montana. Banking points for my son is nice since they are cheaper for youth, but still cost me too much for both of us! Big smile

So what is it for you this year; Elk, Mulies, Goats, Other??
If you are reading this post and this topic doesn't at least get you a little fired up, your woood must be wet! Joker

I know I'm getting excited. Let's get a little activity churning in here!

Bill

Yes my family is excited

Yes my family is excited about the up coming season but will not send in my applications until mid-March. Will be hunting mulies for sure with a ML and hope to draw a cow tag during ML season also. If no ML elk tag then it will be 4th season rifle cow tags for us. As for the rest of the critters moose, goat, antelope and big horn it will be apply and get a preference point. Also doing a wolf and mulie hunt in November up in Idaho so very excited for that too.

Hey SGM, How goes life? I am

Hey SGM, How goes life? I am putting in this year for cow tags, both deer tags and the otc bull tag back up where I took my bull last year (2nd season). The camp is a great bunch of guys. Also, I put in for an antelpoe RFW (doe)and it looks like I should be able to get it for zero PPs. Building up both deer and elk PPs. If I am lucky, we might get back to IN for gun WT season as well.

?????

This year is totally up in the air for me, last year 10-27-12 when I was coming down off the mountain to go home, another truck pulling about a 28' RV jackknifed and blocked the whole road. he called friends to bring him chains, but after I had sat there for 1 1/2 hours another Truck came down the mountain and rear-ended my 14' TA axle Cargo Trailer it ended up being totaled and it bent the frame on my Chevy Silverado too. my personal property has pretty much been taken care of, But I have Whiplash from it, I have been to the Doctor, Chiropractor over 20 times, 2 MRIs, and just saw a Neurologist, I have headaches 24 hours a day and Dizziness, the Neurologist gave me a prescription to help with my headaches, and wants me to go to Physical Therapy 3 times a week. The Neurologist said it could take 2 weeks to over 2 years to get over it. The dead line for the Montana draw is March 15Th, I just don't know what to do.

But, I know that I can't Elk hunt in the condition I am in right now.

sorry

Sorry to hear this. Could always apply somewhere and with-draw if neccessary. At least that way you've still got a chance if things turn around, which I hope they do.
Hang in there. Nice to see another midwestern-er on here. I'm below you in SE Ohio.

Pretty excited

I'll be trying my hand at antelope bow hunting this year kicking off mid Aug. Then bow hunting elk at least 15 days in Sep. Then likely a doe rifle antelope tag early Oct. And, finally if I draw it (fingers crossed) bow hunting mulies Eastern plains from Oct. thru Dec. So hopefully getting a heck of a lot of bow hunting in this year.

Bucky, hope you're feeling better soon and hunting hard!

Man!

I'd be pretty excited too with this line up!
Oh, the joy of reaping the benefits of living in the west. Good luck this year.
I too am a bow hunter by heart, but until I learn more about western hunting, I've got to stick to ml and rifle. Can't wait to take the bow. I hunt primarily with bow in ohio for just about everything. Gives me good practice.

We're planning on several

We're planning on several hunts this year too.  Starting out with a ML hunt for mule deer here in Colorado and following that with a Wyoming antelope hunt.  Then we'll see if the boy can it done on elk this year (I think this is his year!).  After that we'll be hunting whitetails in Nebraska and then finish our year off with a late season elk hunt.  Looking forward to it already!

Bucky, sorry to hear you're having some problems as a result of the wreck last fall.  I remember reading about your trip and thinking "that sucks, but at least no one was seriously hurt."  So much for that thought!

BoneCollector has good advice for you.  I'd also recommend putting in for tags in the draws.  If you are unable to go you can turn them back in before the season begins and get a refund, at least in Colorado (not sure how Montana works on this).  This way you have some plans in the works if you recover and aren't left with scraping up leftovers or OTC tags.  In Colorado, you can get a refund but you'll sacrifice your points used if you turn your tag back in.  So I guess that is a consideration too.  Hope you can find some good time in the woods and enjoy a few hunts this year in spite of everything else.

Good luck to all !

Looks like everyone has some great plans ready for 2013 and good luck to all. Kevin I hope you get better soon and can get some hunting in this year.

As for myself the only thing I really have planned for this year is my Colorado elk hunt, but I hope I get really lucky and draw my 2nd choice deer tag. My daughter will draw her 3rd season buck tag for sure this year and I will be helping her while my dad and sons hunt another unit the same season for bucks.
