White Tail Rut

In recent discussion with local "white tail experts",I have heard that the seasonal rut is triggered by,(1) Shortening of the days,(2) Drop in temperature, (3) Natural hormones in the doe as well as the buck and a few too silly to mention. I know that game biologists and sportsmen alike have hashed this for ages , but I would like some first hand feed back from you guys to compare with what I have learned and seen over the years. I hunt in Ky. and Ohio and would like some serious thoughts on this .Thanks guys for your help. Chuck in Ky.<><

White Tail Rut

I don't know but I would think it might have more to do with the does and her desires.
At least that was always the way it was around my house. But my beautiful "flower child" of 35 years, is now turning to seed ! Big smile Big smile Big smile

White Tail Rut

I hunt in NE KS and have come to the conclusion the rut takes place almost the same time every year. I've logged lots of information about moon phase, weather conditions, scouting camera results, etc. and it seems that rut hits nearly the same time year after year. The scouting cameras provide the best results for seeing big deer activity. I've logged many pics and it is very obvious when the big boys start chasing the ladies. What causes the rut could only speculate that it's up to the does. the bucks prepare for the rut well in advance just waiting for that doe to be ready. It's a mystery!!!!!
