Which to use in TN

I have a dilema about what gun to use for deer hunting in TN. I have a 30-30 and a 308. Both are bolt action and I am very comfortable shooting either. What would be recommended for use on the WMA in Cheatham County. I don't wasnt to use something too powerful since I will have no clue where other hunters are posted. Have been to the WMA a couple of times this summer but, don't know what to expect this fall. Any advice would be great.

Being from Tennessee and hunting there for over 25 years before I moved I can say that all the deer I took with rifle there were Taken with my old trusty 30/30....Along with Boars and Black Bear...Now thems the ones I didnt shoot with My old trusty Long Recurve. That old 30/30 will do the Job as long as you do yours.

your 30-30 will be the right choice for the WMA's.. The 308 is a good long range cartridge, but if you are hunting woods and in an area where there might be several people, Id go 30-30...

Yeah, I agree that the 30-30 is the better choice for where I will be hunting. Unfortunately I will miss opening weekend. But I will have plenty of time after that to get my bucks. Thanks for all the input.

My rifles made the decision for me. the trigger on my 30-30 froze up, so I am using the .308

.308 is my favorite round, so its not a loss thats for sure

.308 is a great round. I love what it does to deer ballistically speaking. It'll bring brown down that's for sure.
