Which trail camera to buy my husband for Christmas?

He has been wanting one of these for a long time. I did some research, I assume IR is best, but not sure about how many pictures it takes and things like that, I want one that takes an SD card which I am sure most do. I heard Moultrie is best, but all of the reviews I read say they stop working after a few months

So post up what you have and your experiences, and how much you paid (I want to try to stay under $350)

Thanks!

My only experience is with moultrie and I have not had any issues with it. I have some friends who also have moultries and they have worked well for them too. I honestly forget what I paid for it, maybe $200? Purchased it about 3 years ago and it was the best moultrie avaialble at the time. It took pics & video and had a SD card slot. I also purchased a small solar panel for it which kept the battery charged out in the woods (nice feature). I haven't looked into the new models available but I"m sure they have some great features that are better than mine.

April, I can only speak from experience. I had recvd a Moultrie 4.0 camera from my wife for Christmas 3 years ago and was so excited. I had it out on our property for a week and had not one picture.....plenty of deer tracks in the snow. After some research, I found that most cameras do not operate well

Don't guess on what camera he wants - buy him the one HE wants. Work it into a conversation.....Hey honey saw an ad on tv about trail cams - sure are a lot of them out there I guess? What camera would you buy if you were going to get one for yourself?

Might give him a clue of what you're doing but then you'll be getting what he wants.

I have used the same Wildview digital camera for several years in a row and it has been tremedous for me. Maybe you got a bad one. I usually get 500 to 700 pictures in a week and 80 to 90% of them are good pictures. You can buy 3 or 4 of them for the price of some of the other models. I would not hesitate to buy another Wildview camera. In fact, I plan to do so, so that I can have more than one.

Here are some samples from pictures from my Wildview camera.

I have a multrie and it works very well for me. the only thing i dont like are the the 6 d batteries, but it only cost $80 at scheels. i have had it for 3 months and it takes exeptional pics probably twice as good as the above pics, but the internet may have reduced the quality so i don't how good those pics are. the batteries are supposed to last 60 days but it still works and i haven't changed them yet.
