Which one???

For what ever reason you can only have one rifle. When you walk out of your house which one are you going to grab? Which one is your favorite?

For me it would be "El Troubador" - my .375 H&H. I had it built for me as a .300 H&H about 25 years ago & had it rebarrelled 2 or 3 years back. When I grab it we are not playing around & are out for serious business. This last season I tried using the .270 for antelope. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it but I grabbed "Troub" and with the first shot had my antelope down. And it didn't destroy as much meat as my .300 would of.

Which one???

For me it would have to be my Sako AV Deluxe left hand in 7mm Rem Mag. I got a Leupold MK3 3.5-10x40 with Talley mounts. This rig is my go-to rifle. I shot Whitetails, Elk, Bear, Pronghorns and Moose. I love this rifle! I also have another Sako AV lefty in 243 also a great rifle. I love Sako.

Which one???

For me it would be my Tikka T3 in .338 Federal. It will handle any thing I will ever hunt and doesn't kick me into the next county.

Winchester Model 70 Classic Featherweight in .270 Winchester. Topped with a Leupold fixed 6X powered 36mm Obj lens. It has a light weight thinner walled barrel that most sporters do. Still, with my reloads that thing is accurate enough and will shoot a 1 inch group at 100 yards and 2 to 3.5 inch group out to 200 yards and perfectly adequit for putting 5 shots inside the diameter of a paper plate out to 300 yards for about 5 consecutive shots. After that first magazine load the barrel heats up too much and accuracy gets a bit erratic until I let the barrel cool down. It's a very handy field rifle for me. Use it on every biggame animal I hunt.

Which one???

Rifles have come and gone. Some that have gone were special. Didn't realize how special till they were gone. I had a tang safty Ruger mod 77 bought new when Ruger first built it in 7x57, about 1972? One of the best ever rifles and cartridges. My old Rem 660 in 308 now calls my son's home, home. He uses my 25-06! Go figure?

But for now, I do think that my go to rifle has to be my 6.5x55 on a Mod 70 featherweight. Boy is this a nice rifle. Stay tuned tho, my mind is subject to change on a whim! Big smile It will be intresting to see if this Winchester can invade my soul like my old Ruger 77 and Rem 660 did.

Which one???

My lee enfield No.5 Mk 1 "jungle carbine" in .303 brit. It was passed down to me when I just started hunting and has produced many deer for me. It doesn't tag along with me anymore because I am afraid to hurt it in the woods.
