Which Hunting boots?

To read the catalog and magazine hype, each and every pair of hunting boots is hailed as the best thing since tighty whities. Anyone who stand hunts whitetails in really cold weather quickly comes to appreciate the value of warm boots. Just wondering what your recommendations would be for really warm boots, where warmth is more important than long hours of walking.

Boot blankets are the only thing that ever kept my feet warm! Too bad I don't know where they got to!

Which hunting boots

I have a pair of Hoffman boots, two sets of liners. If I change the liners each day, let one set dry out, I have no trouble with the cold. The tread is great on the snowy/ muddy/ wet hills here in NY.
Worth considering. I am sure there are several good choices.

Which Hunting boots?

Here in Florida where we are known for those freezing days....... Laugh

Really though I went to the local Army/Navy Surplus store and got a pair of wool pilots socks, couple sizes too big. I wear these over a pair of standard cotton socks and top it all off with a pair of thinsulate insulated LaCrosse rubber boots, LaGrange model....keeps feet dry and warm all day.

We all wear rubber boots with felt liners it helps to dry your boots at night, The best way to dry your boots is to take out the liners and stand the boots up with the toes facing the heat source, this way it acts like a chimney.never put your boots upside down they get hot but hot isn;t dry.

I agree my feet are the only things that get hold when stand hunting... i dont hunt from tree stands so i usually will go for a 10 min walk or so to warm up my toes again... i hate being cold it is the worst feeling.. i just feel liek going home when i cant feel my toes..

More info

I have since had an opportunity to talk with a guy who has hunted extensively in Canada. He reports many American hunters give up after as little as an hour on stand in minus thirty degrees temps. Our American hunting clothes are inadequate for the Canadian winter.

My friend reports that the absolute warmest boots he owns are Arctic expedition boots, available from Northern Outfitters. The come in small, medium and large and look like boots for walking on the moon but they are warm. Also, for bitter cold hunting, skip Cabellas and look up Ravenwear on the internet. They have hunting clothes for Canada but expect to spend $600.00 or more for a complete set.
