Nice job on the hunt! Pretty cool to stick an elk on your first trip out in 7 years. I liked the self portrait too. I've tried do self portraits before and they always turn out pretty bad. Have a great deer season too.
And thanks for your service too. I really appreciate your sacrifices to protect my freedoms.
Well, I just have to say...I feel like I've really been blessed this year. I shot my first archery bull elk and my first rifle bull elk this year! Both 5 points! I'm a real believer in the BDC from Nikon and premium bullets. It went through his front shoulder and down through the entire body cavity at 575 yards!
What does "gauge" mean anyway? As used here gauge means the number of round lead balls the same diameter as the inside of the barrel (aka the bore) that it would take to weigh one pound. It takes 12 lead balls the same diameter as a 12 gauge barrel to weigh a pound. The smaller 20 gauge would require 20 balls of that barrel diameter. The larger bore 12 gauge would require 12 lead balls of the bore diameter to weigh one pound.
In general the number of pellets in a shotgun shell...
