I found the Bowtech TomKat on the Hunters Friend website. I don't know if you're familiar with Hunters Friend, but I guess they completely deck out your bow for you plus you get a hard case, arrows...the works when you order from them. Anyway, I was looking at the PSE Stinger, also.
It's about $100 less, but rates about the same as the TomKat. Any opinions on PSE bows?
The most important thing is not to worry so much about the "brand" but find one that fits you, fit of the bow is really important...more so than the brand.
i suggest you check out the mathews Mustang . Just bought one this year for my adult daughter to shoot in 3d's with dad and she loves it. Already she has topped her previous best score by far. Her old bow was a PSE.. Quality arrows are IMHO more important than the brand of bow. Buy the best you can afford. In the long run they have been cheaper for me because they rarely break. I shoot Carbon Force Maxima Hunters with Blazer vanes.
if thats all i had to spend Id get a Mission X-3. Its a not frills bow but dang does it shoot really smooth. Our local shop sells them in a kit for just over 400.
go shoot every bow that someone tells you to shoot. then choose for yourself what me or someone else likes you might dislike you will know when you've found the one.
