Where to hunt in monroe county NY?

I hunted my entire life in Pennsylvania on public state game lands (they are EVERYWHERE) and private leases.

I have never hunted in NY and my question is...what type of public hunting options are there? I do not currently have access to any private land. I'm looking for whitetail and/or bear.

Also, are there any major differences in regulations? I generally hunt with a rifle, bow, and inline muzzleloader.

Monroe County - Public Hunting Grounds

Welcome to NY !!

The best place to find public lands is by going to NYS DEC's website

It has a whole area dedicated to Public Hunting areas(Wildlife Management Areas) and maps and descriptions. I was just looking at them myself tonight. I dont think I'm allowed to post links but if you want the direct link feel free to PM me.

We are in Region 8. Most of the closest hunting areas are down here near me in Honeoye and naples in relation to monroe county.

As far as regs...they are all there on the website too.
