Where have you hunted Exotics?

Could everyone post where they have hunted exotics (ranch name and location) and whether they are archery-only or firearm/archery?...I am relatively new to exotic hunting and have ONLY hunted on the BugScuffle Ranch, NW of San Antonio...would like to go to more ranches...and they best way to do that is to ask for other's experiences...so let's hear all about everyone's hunts at various Exotic ranches

Thanks,
Ytailhtr

Red Stag & Tahr in New Zealand

I just got back from New Zealand hunting for Red Stag and Tahr. I had a great time. My Stag was 12x9 and the Tahr was 12". The hunting ranch offers both rifle and archery. They hold 9 of the Top 10 Archery Tahr SCI records! Rick Kennerknecht

Where have you hunted Exotics?

Check out Jeff Zion at http://www.Diamondbacksafaris.com
This guy get's just as excited you do. Real easy going guy. will help you hunt any way you want to. Bow, rifle, pocket knife, it doesn't matter. I took my first bow kill with him. Been there twice & will be back again. Also, compare the prices of other outfitter's with his. Excellent quaility animal's.
The only problem is the length of time it takes to get your mount back. He is a taxidermist ( and a very good one too ), & guides on the side.
The last mount's that he did for me, (3) of them, took (16) month's.
If you want some pic's E-mail me.

Tahr Hunt

No helicopter for me. I hiked my butt off! We also had about 1ft of snow on the ground as well. Started at 7:00am and got back to the truck at dark. It was the toughest but most rewarding hunt I've been on to date. I have to say, the Tahr hunt is highly under-rated. What a great hunt!

exotic hunting

I have hunted with Jeff Zion of Diamnond back safaris and he is very good. He is actually doing my two cape buffalo mounts for me. Another good place is with Bob Glick in Pharr, Texas. I buy my guns from him and do a fair amount of hunting on his ranch near Encino. He has axis, fallow, sika, eland, scimitar horned oryx, and other exotics. He is a good guide, one price for any size trophy, won't jack up the price for a better animal. I took a 52" wide 6x6 elk, a 48" scimitar, a great fallow, a 29" eland, a 34" axis. I like rifle but he likes bow too. You can contact him at Glick Twins in Pharr. His prices are about the lowest all round.

Where have you hunted Exotics?

The only exotic I've ever shot on an exotic hunting ranch is a bull Eland, at Camp Cooley, near Ridge, Texas. I love Eland meat, and I had a new (New to me) 500/450NE Westley Richards double rifle, that needed blooding, so I went there to blood the rifle, and fill the freezer with good lean meat! I shot a fine free range Mauflon ram in the Davis Mountains, just west of Ft. Davis, Texas. The Davis Mountains have lots of exotics, that have been there for a long time, and are free to roam the mountains at will. It is all private land , so permission must be obtained! (tresspass fee) I do hunt wild hogs on several ranches where they also have exotics, in some high fence holdings, but I hunt hogs in free range cattle fenced land, and I do not consider wild hogs to be exotics, anyway! Shame on You!

All other exotics I've taken were taken in their home land, mostly Africa, and Austrailia! Big smile
