When is the best time to use a decoy

I want to know if a decoy would work in august. I'm planning a bow hunt in South Dakota in 2010 and I'm really hoping to use a decoy. I plan on buying a buck and a doe decoy. I hope it's not too early to be using a decoy. Any information will help!

I would say that bowhunting is really the only time to use a decoy.
