Whats your favorite kind of meat?
Mine is venison.
Deer and elk are great but they cant even come close to Oryx, it is great. ![]()
I think bear meat beats venison hands down!
A true deffinition of venison is any wild game killed by hunting. So that would include everything from a ground hog up to an elephant. But my choice would be caribou tender loins about a hour after the shot.

I guess I dont have a favorite if I said I like everything!
Beef, LOL.
For what I hunt, it's Elk hands down for me. Probably because they are grass grazers much like cattle, and often I really can't tell the difference in taste depending. To be honest, sometimes I don't like Venison all that much, other times I do. I guess it has to do with how it has been aged, prepped, or whatever. Though I love to have summer sausage made from it.
Actually, on the other hand I think the best wild game I have ever had is the Turkey I've bagged, absolutely fantastic, ha ha.
If you were able to take an elk and treat it like a feeder beef by feeding it grain for the last month of its life I doubt that you would be able to tell the difference. I know that the wild long horn cattle that I have shot tast so close to elk that you can't tell the difference. But if you look at the long horns meat it does not have the marbleing in it like a feeder beef does but is almost fat free like a elk.
I'm sure that is true. It is the fat content that is different from the grain. I've read that grass fed only beef is sort of making a comeback in some stores, mainly on environmental and organic/natural reasons, but costs more...
