Whats your coldest hunt?

I was watching the thermometer at 10 below this morning ans was wondering what's the coldest weather some of you have hunted in.

I spent a couple of hours out in a duck blind last month at 15 below and did pretty good till my toes froze and I had to pack it in. I just didn't have the right waders for temps that low.

I killed a cow elk a few years ago at 5 below but walking around was quite comfortable other than that my water tube froze and I couldn't get a drink.

The coldest hunt I have been

The coldest hunt I have been on was 13 years ago whe I hunting in Minnesota. It was 20 below during the day and a whole heck of a lot colder at night, but luckily I stayed in my uncle's cabin. It was a very cold hunt. It was the first time I have ever hunted from a stand and I just about froze my butt off. My normal hunts here in Oregon are a bit warmer. During rifle season it's usaly 30-50 degrees during the day, but at night will drop into single digits. I camp out of a tent but have a good sleeping bag so I dont get cold at night. During archery season in late August and september it will be 60-90 during the and will be in th 30's at night. A bit more comfortable. I do a lot of still hunting as well as spot and stalk so I usaly dont get cold. but when i hunted in MN in that stand having to stay still man i was very miserable.

Colorado waterfowl hunt

I'd have to say my coldest hunt ever was dec  2009 duck hunting out in CO. It was under 20 below when we left the house at 4:00am and it had started snowing the night before. It was so cold our mr. heater wouldn't start untill we took it back to the truck and thawed it out with the truck heater. We couldn't even light a lighter it was so cold.

We ended up getting a few ducks but it was a rough morning. We had to get up and walk around several times just to warm our feet back up from the point of frost bite.

A few pics of the river and my little bro about to freeze to death lol...

Duck and goose hunting has

Duck and goose hunting has always been the coldest that I have hunted with the temperatures well below zero on many occasions.  There was a couple of deer hunts when it was around a -20 and one that I remember when we couldn't even boil coffee on a propane stove.  The propane kept freezing up in the lines and the tank to where it wouldn't flow to the burner.

0 ?

I try not to go out below zero.  I don't like the cold.  Even then I carry those little chemical (oxygen activated) heaters and hate to be without them if I am sitting still for an hour or more.

-10F at 6 AM this morning.  Thank God we have a warm place to get in for the night!

I hunted the late archery

I hunted the late archery season in Wisconsin a few years back and it was at least -10. I took my dog with me and when I returned to the cabin she was still in the blanket I had wrapped her up in. It's not normal for my choc lab to sit still for more than 20 seconds, so she must have been freezing...even with the heat on. When I walked in the door she looked at me as if to say, "you come near me and I just might bite your ear off".

This past season duck hunting

This past season duck hunting on the river in Montana.  It was -10 when we arrived at the water. Fifteen minute boat ride up the river with winds blowing 15 miles per hour.  The sun was out but it was still -20 with wind.  When we finished, we all had 2 inches of ice on our waders up to our waist.  It took awhile just to get the waders off.  With ice build up on the waders, they would stand up on their own.  I can stay we were the only ones hunting that day.  I would do it again in a heart beat.

It was 20 below when deer

It was 20 below when deer hunting up at my cabin in northern Michigan back in the 70s one week as far as big game goes.  Several years ago it was -25 to -30 with a wind chill of -50s to -60s out in North Dakota for three days in a row while we were pheasant hunting and I almost lost the right side of my nose to frostbite.  That was the only part of me that I didn't have properly protected and I almost paid for it with loss of a body part!!!
