I'm using a Traditions Deerhunter .50 with black composite stock, drilled and taped for a Weavermount. It has a 1 in 48'' twist and works well with all bullets (RB, Conical, sabot). Price is about $ 180,00.

what action type is it? Is it hard to clean? How about accuracy?

Traditions Pursuit Lt. Break action, mine came in a kit that has all the neccessary accroutrements for $355. The rifle itself was $275, fibre-optic open sights, drilled and tapped for a scope. Accuracy is incredible inside 100yds. Beyond that it gets a little wonky, but if you`re shooting beyond 100yds that`s not muzzleloader hunting anymore, in my opinion.

the deerhunter is a sidelock, easy to clean without removing the barrel. It also works with pelles and it delivers good accuracy with all bullets. At 50 meters all 3 shots each with PRB, Hornady Great Plains bullet and Hornady TXP sabots were within 30mm standing freehanded. Charge was 90 grs WANO PP or 3 Vectan bp pellets.

CVA Wolf 209 under $200.00 will take them down

Hi maineguide,

I'm planing to buy a CVA wolf 209 magnum to have a modern inliner beside my sidelock. Do you have expiriences with this rifle? Does it work with pellets?

Kirr , I have the CVA Optima Pro. The Wolf is built on the same frame. I use pellets
with mine and have no problem with it. I use 2 pellets (100grs) and a 245 gr. powerbuilt bullet. CVA says to use these bulits with their rifels.
Have shot deer with this gun and it works for me.

How do you like the optima. I'm split between the TC triumph and CVA optima but am still looking into others at this point. How about accuracy and ease of cleaning? Any complications?

I like it a lot. Very easy to clean. Easy to take apart. They seem to be built on the same idea as the TC rifle but a whole lot cheaper.
The rifle is as accurate as any out there on the market.

I just got my CVA Wolf in the mail last week. Gonna be shooting it this week. I bought simple Pyrodex pellets. The guy at the gun shop said it's one of his best sellers. Shoots straight, kills things, and very affordable. Just doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but hey, who needs them??????
