What to you prefer reading?

I have now been a member of this site for just under three months.  Up until this month, I was more or less a passive member.  I snooped around a little but not a whole lot.  I was encouraged to join by Groovy Mike and told that I could win some great outdoor gear.  After being a member about a month, I entered a story and took second place in that month's contest.

Then came March and with it a madness to become an active part.  I have read a plethora of hunting articles, tips, stories and forums during this month and have spent way too much time at this site.  My wife wonders what I'm doing on the computer all the time.

Which brings me to a question:  What part of this site do you like best and/or read most

I have read quite a few stories and have enjoyed them, though they often take some time.  And I have responded to those stories.  Do you like reading other people's stories, even when they're long?  I have submitted a couple of stories that are pretty lengthy and I wonder if people really take the time to read them.

I have read a lot of tips and will say that I have both enjoyed them and learned from them.  Do you like reading all the tips?

I have followed many forums and have responded to a whole bunch of them.  I have read blogs, feature articles and moderator writings.

What I think I enjoy the most is when I post something and get a response from others.  I hope that doesn't sound self serving, but it's great to hear what other people think of what you have posted.  In fact, after a while, it almost feels like you are making friends on this site that you could eventually spend time and hunt with.

So here's the question again..... what do you most enjoy about this site and what do you read?

" what do you most enjoy about this site and what do you read?"

As for me I read what I am interested in, if it doesn't interest me I may scan over it but I really don't pay that much attention to it.

Now for the what do I enjoy the most about this site, well it is the members here.  Most are very willing to give up information on hunts on where to go and how to do it.  It's that simple.  I am a member of another site and a new member the other day asked a question on where he could do a back pack hunt and get away from people and find some animals.  From the first few responses you would of thought that he was asking to go home with your wife or girlfriend not to mention taking your truck away from you.  I'm not kidding you the first 5 or 6 responses were like, put on your boots and go find a place I am not going to tell you a thing but I'll sit here and harass you for asking such a question.  I actually one time answered one on the open forum for a member and they came down on me just as hard as they did the person that asked the question.  I have never seen that kind of problem here.  You ask a question and more than likely you will get a great answer on where to go and what to look for.  That's what I like about this forum.

I have to say that I read

I have to say that I read just about everything that shows up on the site. I do scan over things that I don't have as much interest in or if the story is to long that I try to get ahead to the good stuff, but most of the thigs written in the stories are pretty good.

Although I do post on a lot of threads I do try to avoid it if I know nothing or very little. If you notice I dont comment much on turkey hunting or some other animals as I have not hunted them. I will comment on a good story about it or some good pictures but not try to offer advice as I have none. Same with hunting areas I know nothing about. I do like when I post a topic and you see it go on for multiple pages as then you know it was worthwhile.

Like Critter said the participation here is great and the willingness to share is unprecedented. I have recieved numerous pm messages with advice, sometimes without even asking and as a result have made some new plans for the coming years.

I like to read - a lot!

I like to read the stories.  I love a good hunting story that takes me on teh hunt too.  I savor every word of a well written story.  I also like the hunting tips section of this web site.  Over teh eyar or so I have been a member I have read most of the tips (except those that seemed specific to archery hunting - which I don't do much of) and I actually learned a few things!  You gotta love being able to pick up a trick that will make your hunting more effective or more comfortable - or both.  Bottom line this is a great site because everyone contributes and is willing to hsrae their knowledge.  As other folks posted - that willingness to share and help whether from teh general members or mderators makes all the difference.  Thanks folks! Mike

I really like reading the

I really like reading the posts that are dug up from 2003.... lol

Seriously though, I would probably side with Critter here.  I really enjoy the daily bantering with the other regular members on a daily basis.  There seems to be a good group of guys.

I would just like to see them stick around when there is no contest going on.  This month will be interesting, since you can't win if you won in March.

What I like to read.

I try to keep up with everything, but my favorite has to be the forum. Like you arrowflipper I also like it when I get a response to what I post and it really makes me feel good when I do get to help someone and it works for them. Thumbs up

We have an excellent bunch of guys and gals here and I would share a camp with most any of them.

I like everything about the

I like everything about the site, I enjoy reading the stories from all the members(most  are very good and could be published). I love looking at the pictures in the galleries. I like reading the reviews on all the different hunting gear. heck I even like reading the cartoon section. The thing i like the best is the forum though. Its nice have have people willing to help others out and I like being able to help out when someone needs help in my neck of the woods, I like the comradory and sometimes bickering (its all in good fun). The people on this site are top notch. I'm involved in a few other sites and by far this one is the best(even before the contests).

All of us here at BGH enjoy

All of us here at BGH enjoy reading all YOUR submissions! We read and proof each and every story and tip submitted - and they make us smile as we're posting them! Big smile We feel like we're getting to know each one of our members through their stories.

As arrowflipper pointed out - feedback is wonderful! It's nice to know when someone else has enjoyed your work.

We have enjoyed reading the feedback from everyone here on BGH as well. Don't ever hesitate to send in suggestions. Sometimes we can accommodate them, and sometimes we have to keep them on file for a future update to the site.

Thank you to the great community we have here on BGH!

PS to Ca_Vermonster: sometimes those old posts DO have some useful info!

a suggestion

OK, here's a suggestion... without an answer.  Not all stories and/or tips are created equal.  Is there any way that you can give different points for more lengthy or quality stories or tips?  I don't know how you would do that, but some stories or tips seem to be worth more than others.

Just a suggestion.

I have only been a member since January and I love this site.  I enjoy how everyone is open and eager to share with each other.  I find that refreshing.

Thanks for all you do.
