What would you carry?

Scenario:
You got the Sheep tag of a life time and need to make a decision on the ideal rifle, scope, cartridge and bullet conbination your going to carry up the mountain.

There's a lot to choose from. A Browning Micro Hunter in 270wsm with a 3x-9x 40 Burris. Throwing a 140 gr Nosler Accubond would do it, here. Of course all would be matte finished in dark tones.

I would use the same 7mag I use for everything else,I am so familiar with the gun and the way it performs I dont plan on ever needing another rifle for anything in the lower 48.

What would you carry?

Hambone just posted some pics of sheep terrain over on the "Drew Tag - Need Help" string. Motivation to travel light. Perhaps the M77 Compact in 7mm-08??? Ahhh ... maybe too light. Plus the short barrel saws off intended muzzle velocity. Rockies are big creatures.

The 140-gr. AccuBond is an outstanding longrange bullet and the Winchester Supreme line-up loads this round in both 270 WSM or 7mm Mag.

Happy Hunting!

What would you carry?

I have a tikka T3 270 WSM stainless with VX III 3x9x40 that I handload 140 accubonds with RL 25. Any 7mm or 300 mag would be fine as would 270, 280 and even 30-06. Know your ballistics and practice. My tikka is my new deer gun but it would be at home in the sheep mountains. Anybody want to give me advice on how to go on a sheep hunt on a budget within the next decade??

My bow if I was close enough, or a Weatherby ultralite .280 Rem. would be my choice with a 4-14x scope for them long shots on a 180+ inch ram that is escaping 400 yards across a ravine on the last day of the hunt...
