My first was a ruger 10/22. I will never forget the day my dad took me so I could spend all my savings on it... a good day!

Oh and I think I was 11 or 12 when I got it. My first animal with it was a squirrel. It does pretty good on the pine variety up in the hills.

my first that was actually

my first that was actually given to me was a Remington Model 7 .243

the old lady wasnt happy about that one. after getting the top-of-the line scope on it, it was well over $800. pops told her it looks so nice she'd want to hang it in the kitchen...i wonder why its in the gun cabinet...needless to say he was in the doghouse for a couple weeks.

i got it for my twelveth birthday

my first animal with it was a 6-point whitetail taken on the first day of the season.

My first was an Iver Johnson

My first was an Iver Johnson single shot 20 ga. I got it for Christmas when I was 10. I was a squirrel's worst nightmare but did my share of damage to the bobwhite population also.

Marlin 22 for Christmas at 7

Marlin 22 for Christmas at 7 years old. Shot a lot of black birds out on the oil field leases, and got my first jackrabbit also riding with granddad while checking the wells. The next year I got a single shot winchester 20 guage.

I'm a late bloomer

I'm a late bloomer.

My first firearm was a WW2 vintage #5 Enfield 'jungle carbine' in 303 British.  I bought it for myself with a week's worth of pay ($180) when I was 18 years old.

I still have it.  The first thing I shot with it was a rabid raccoon.

But I have also used it to take white tail deer.

I ought to get that old girl out and take her to teh range someday soon Yes

very first

The first gun I ever had was a single shot 12ga Winchester mod 370 and I'd suppose I was about 14. The first animal was a squirrel, of course. I can still remember how that thing recoiled shooting 1 oz slugs too! Huh?

I'm not sure which one came

I'm not sure which one came first but one of three. Mod 94 Sweed in 6.5x55 or Mossberg bolt action shotgun in 16ga or Iver Johnson single shot in 12ga. Couldn't remember the first animal I killed.

Isn't it amazing to some of you more experienced guy's how someone's first rifle/gun dates them? I can easily remember when Ruger only made the standard pistol. When the Rem mod 7 came out I'd already been married 11 yrs to one wife and 5 to the next! I was working in Alaska at the time. Damn, I can remember when Remingtons flagship was the mod 721! Boy I feel old now!!

My first rifle was a

My first rifle was a Remington Model 514 single shot .22.  My Dad gave it to me when I was 9 or 10.  The first animal that I shot with it was probably a cottontail rabbit, but that was soooo long ago.
