I just saw your question and I can't believe no one responded.
What region are you in and what did you end up planting?
Depending on where you are if you never got anything in yet, try planting Wintergreens from Whitetail Institute. Or you can do a mixture of your own of purple top turnips, brassica and clover mix.
Attached is a photo of my Wintergreens I planted last August and they were just awesome as deer used it all winter and we found three shed antlers in it in spring. I planted even more of it this year.
Any other questions feel free to ask.

I almost feel silly for asking, but you don't learn if you don't ask right?

you mentioned purple top turnips, brassica and clover mix.

Where is the best place to find these? and is it too late to start this year? btw I live in Kentucky.

seed

Planting those seeds blends in the dates that "stickers" told you should work fine. If your hunting season comes in September, you may want to plant now if you can, provided you expect some rains and that your area has some average rainfall during that period.
You can also find those seeds and more from a place called Rohrer Seeds in Smoketown, PA. 717-299-2571 If you don't feel like mixing your own seeds blends, they also carry blends from "Wildlife Perfect". A product they have called "Wildlife Brassica Mixture" that has Rape, turnip and chicory. Either seed you buy from there will work great as I have had great results with them.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask. There are no stupid questions, stupidity comes from Not asking questions when you DON'T have the answers.
