Re: What is the right turkey gun/archery set up?

I guess now is as good a time as any for an update.

I bought a Remington 870 12 for the wife and single shot 20 for the daughter. For the 12 I got a TruGlow turkey choke and sights and bought a variety of turkey loads. Best load is putting 15 pellets in the kill zone at 40 yards.

20 gauge is limited to about 30 yards but that should be fine for the 12 year old. She has a hard time hitting where she needs to beyond 30 anyway.

Thanks Hog.

We all have our vests now and the funnest part has been learning the calls. I've got an arsenal but just like the elk calls I am starting to lean towards the diaphram calls since you can make all the necessary sounds with them. I've been driving everyone nuts!

I have been scouting too but I have mostly found the deer and elk which is isn't all bad but I'm having a hard time finding the turkeys. Every year I run into the thunder chickens in the fall so I'm still trying to figure them out in the spring.

The bow is dialed in too!
