270wcf model 700 Classic w/a Burris 3x9x40. The clarity on the Burris in my experience is great and the 270 is definatley overkill on coyotes but damn its fun!! I know the pic is just a coyote, but kinda like catching a fish on the first fly you ever tied, this is the first one Ive ever called in.

When I was coyote hunting in Nevada. I used a 223, a 22-250, or a 243.
More often than not the wind would pick up and make it very difficult to hit at any lengthy ranges. So, on one occasion I took my 270 wcf with 130's and had better hits at the extended ranges.
Since, I have used the 270, exclusively, as an extended range predatore round. Actually, it's the only round I use. Only, I have chosen to go with the faster 270 wsm and a high BC bullet to put the odds a bit more in my favor. Using a bullet that is 1.5 to 2.5 times the weight of the 243's and 22's at comparable velocities.
There isn't much on a coyote to stop a heavy jacketed big game bullet. So, they react more like a FMJ and make great hide savers.
It does remove a lot of the doubt when the wind picks up. Which is just about every outing.

i think i have a hair over a grand in it, and i dropped two wild dogs today from 240 yards with it. busted my elk from 300, and shot my whitetail from 200 all in the last two months!

Remington 700 22-250. Thumbhole, fluted bull barrel, vented stock, with a 8x32-44 BSA. Right at a grand. Fine, fine rifle to shoot. havent even sighted the new scope in yet, and getting VERY impatient I have been working and moving at the same time, so havent had much free time. That will change after one more weekend, however.

It depends on where I'm hunting. If I'm in big open country I use my .223/ TC with leupold 4x12, pretty expensive rig but fun. When I'm calling in the river bottoms I prefer to use my mosberg 12ga w/ xtra full choke and 2 shot. It flattens them Before I could afford my .223 I used my ruger 10-22 and it still killed yotes. If you get them in close you can use about anything.

I hunt coyotes with my TC Encore in 223 with a Leupold VXII 3-9X40. I usually pass up on cats and the occasional fox because of excessive damage to the fur. But a few days ago I ordered by first custom barrel from Bullberry Barrel Works. It's a 22" SS light varmint in 17 Rem w/1-in-10 twist. Gonna be sweet .....and I won't be passin on cats and foxes next season!

Remington 30 odd with a bushnell elite 4200 series 2.5 - 10 x 40mm and I love it for all big game and predators.
