I just finished up a late season elk hunt on private land. It was terrific! We got to drive around on a ranch the day before opening day. When we spotted a nice bull, we marked that spot and came back the next day.
Early the next morning, we returned to the site (in a heater truck cab) and the elk were still in the area, so we parked the pick up, walked over to the edge of the clearing, and I harvested my elk. It was a nice 4 pointer.
We drove the pickup over to the down elk, gutted it, and wenched it into the back of the truck. This was the easiest elk hunt I've ever had. I love hunting this way, even though it cost a few bucks!
I've been thinking of trying the YO Ranch in Texas, too.
This was a great hunt!
