What gun will you be using this year?

Think I think I will try out my .450 Marlin ( ya I know but I like big bore rifles) I'll just keep my shot in the ribs so I don't loose meat. Great gun and I have not hunted with it yet.

Savage 16FLHSS w/ Shaw 20" .260 barrel & SSS tactical bolt handle, Burris Euro Diamond 1.5-6x40 with German #4 reticle in Burris Dual Dovetail Signature rings

Smacked a couple with it already. 120 grain BT gave a little more damage than I expected.

What gun will you be using this year?

some interesting replies....

i was reading a thread on another site, basically the same question was asked...

the replies there supprised me as well...

while here i am a bit supprised by some of the larger, med and big bores, on the other site i was supprised by the number of people using magnums, especially the newer wsm and wssm rum etc...

for whitetail here in pa l like my 30-30...though if it is a combo of whitetail and black bear, i like my 45-70...

I believe that the cartridge and rifle should be dictated by the cover you hunt, action by preference.

Field hunting either my Sporterized .303 or the TC Pro Hunter with either the 7mm.08 or the .300 win mag barrels. Brush .444 336 marlin or the slugger.

Refuse to hunt here in Illinois because of the rediculously blatent disreguard for the 2nd ammendment by the enforcement of a law requiring the hunters to have a Firearms Ownership Id Card to even purchase a hunting license or even AMMO!!! So Ill be heading back to PA to hunt firearms season this year.

Didnt get to pull my bow back enough this year to feel confident with it so Ill be limited to Gun season Cry

Thanks.

Why, yes I do.

Its a tad less than 7# all up. The lightness leads to a bit of muzzle rise, but the recoil is very light. I had to put this rifle together b/c I'm left-handed. The tactical bolt is necessary b/c Savages are hard to cock and the factory handle is a bit small.
Given all the trade-offs and pros and cons you get when thinking about a 300 yard deer rifle, this was what I came up with for an optimal rig on a reasonable budget. I think I got pretty close.
