What gun will you be using this year?

What rifles will all of you guys be using this year for your first deer hunt? I love to hear about folks' favorite rifles.

I'm anxious to try out my Ruger frontier 338 federal in order to see how it performs on deer, but I think I'm going to try and use my 9.3X74R Chapuis double for my first deer. May take a doe with the 358 win BLR, or my trustee ole 7-08 BLR. Good luck to all, and I know you fellas are just as anxious as I am. Thumbs up

Archery isn't going to happen for me this year. I'm going to give my 300 wsm a shot at it.

Fuzzybear- I'm sure you already know this, but I was going to suggest using at least a 180 grained bullet. I made the mistake once of shooting a little doe with a 150 grained 300 weatherby. There was only enough deer left to leave it for the coyotes. The bigger the bullet, the slower the velocity, and the slower the velocity, the less the meat damage. Good luck, and I hpe you don't think I'm trying to be patronizing, I'm just trying to give some friendly advice. Thumbs up

I'll either be using my TC Pennsylvania Hunter with the Green Mountain .40 caliber barrel or .50 Caliber CVA St. Louis Hawken. I'll be shooting a roundball in both. If I should be getting some big hogs coming into my feeder I will probably go to the 320 grain REAL bullet in the .50 Caliber.

One of my stands has a big game trail about 200 yards away. I'll be taking my Ruger 77 in 7MM Remington Mag to that stand. I settled on the 160 grain Nosler Partitioned bullet in that rifle long ago.

I will be using my bow for most of my local whitetail hunting, a 30-06 for mule deer and possibly my .375 H&H mag for a whitetail doe.

Speers has a 235 gr bullet that they claim if loaded around 2500 fps will do less meat damage than a smaller caliber high velocity bullet. I guess we'll see.

54 cal Hawken, patched round ball here in IL. Will also carry my .357 Python with 2X scope. This will be my first year to use the Python.

All shots on this property are close. 20-40 yds.

My mistake, I thought I was in the Elk question. The 308win with a 165gr is going out for deer.
When I set a rifle up I set it up to shoot one bullet. The 300wsm is set up to shoot a 180gr Accubond until I find something, in 180gr, that shoots better. As of now it's set up to shoot a MPBR of 320 yds at a 7" target. I'm looking at the new 180gr E-Tip from Nosler or a 180gr Barnes Triple Shock. I haven't tried either. The Barnes are real popular around here. The Nosler is new. I call it My Current Elker.

When I first started hunting it was a 30-06 and a 180gr Core Lokt for everything.
