This year has been an odd year for me... as far as hunting goes. I took a Aug 1st hunt and have the ability to hunt about 30 minutes from my house. I've been hard at it since Aug 1st, making 3-4 trips out there a week. I've come up empty handed thus far, but I have a few more months to go.
I just bought my General Deer tag and my girl friends General Deer and Elk tag. I also bought ammo and I dropped $125!!! WTF???
So I got to thinking... I wanted to know just how much I've spent on hunting this year? I did some quick calculations and I've estimated I've spend close to $500 on hunting this year. That includes fuel and food used on scouting/hunting/rifle range trips, the cost of my tags/license and ammo.
I figure after all said and done, I would be into hunting this year close to $1000. I've still got 2-3 more weekend hunting trips planned.
I love getting outdoors, spending the time with my son/daughters, so I dont really think of the money as going to waste. I have had the thought.... If I eat my tag this year... I should have just bought a cow(beef) for $500 and called it good.
What type of budget busting have you all done this year?
