What do you see in New England for acorns and other nuts?
I hunt in MA and CT. i have never seen so few acorns as i have see this year. the deer are keying in on food. they are moving to the food. place where i always see deer are holding no deer this year.
it is a tough year.
I have found a few beech nuts and acorns. When you find them the trees that have them seem to be loaded. There are a lot more beech nuts than acorns this year. I live only about a mile from the vermont line in western mass. So if you find the trees that have them you will find the deer.
When calling coyotes, more often than not they will circle on a target they are
coming into and approach from the downwind side. Presumably they do this in
order to align what they smell, with what they are hearing.
This means that you should always have your downwind side camouflaged and have
an open shooting lane. If the area is heavily covered the coyote could come in
take a look and be gone, with you none the wiser.
